Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD VW tinkerer

My history with VW goes back to 1991, with a disposal of my BMW 2002, and getting on board a 1980 Passat diesel wagon, with a neck snapping 37 kilowatts of power. Quite a change, quite a change. Since then, the house has had a 79 mk1 Golf, 76 Audi Fox, and now a couple of 95 Golf 3 TDI's under it. Am currently still getting around in my second 1980 Passat diesel, but it's to be retired in the near future. So far I've messed around with just about all parts of these cars, finding workarounds for some of the not-so-good aspects to be found. All in all, though, they are certainly some of the best engineered machinery I've ever worked on! Its no wonder VW is commonly regarded as having one of the best car designs and diesel engines available.
And with the recent acquisition of the Golfs, I'll still be getting around with that roundel for some time to come.

    Cheers from Tim.

Hey and welcome to VWW, nice to see another westside tinkere on here

    So you've got a couple of Mk3 TDI's? That's lucky, I've heard they're extremely rare.
