Teeing off for the first time!

Hey you all. I am a first time "golfer" - picking up my GTI babe at the end of May 2010.
I live on the Central Coast of NSW and look forward to trying out my new car on the winding country roads around the area!
I test drove a golf trendline, then a comfortline with the sports pak and was keen to purchase one of the latter. Then, as fate would have it, I test drove a GTI and from the moment I held the wheel, I was smiling. After the first corner I was feeling very comfortable and during the succesive corners, as my mate squirmed in his sports seat next to me, I felt more and more at home. I knew, after that first drive, that the GTI and I were made to be together. So I ordered a red one (is there another colour?) and have ordered my personalised plates. Currently she's on a ship in the Indian Ocean, on her way home to Papa!!

welcome to the site, mate! nice choice you've made there, apparently the driver's pew is a very nice place to be in the new gti.

any word on precisely when you're gonna get it? i bet it's killing you, haha

Thanks Buller_Scott. Yes indeed, the driver's pew is an awesome place to ... live the dream!! I have been keeping track of the ship and she is scheduled to arrive in Port Kembla May 12 so 2-3 weeks after that she will be mine! Is the wait killing me? Not as much as my friends, family and work mates who are sick to death of hearing about it. I do now have a wad of articles Ive printed out about the GTI and have looked through the factory in Germany on YouTube. I'm waiting .... impatiently. You know how it is. once the decision is made, you are soooo ready

lol yeah i hear that. i was supposed to go with dad to germany in april last year to do a tour but, of course, im a procrastinator and it didnt happen. it'd be so rad though.

so, begs the question.... what are your plans with it?

its utterly criminal to bastardize a brand spanker like the one you'll soon have, but it's hard not to get naughty thoughts in your head on these forums, hehe.

My plans with it? To love it and enjoy it just as it is, to have that "ah this is it" feeling each time I sit behind that perfect steering, to feel at home and "right" on the road in THE car. I have no plans to modify it - I love the Detroit 18" wheels and wouldnt swap them for any others. Chips to super super charge it? At this point, I doubt it will feel underpowered to me ~ on the contrary, as is I will have to watch for the boys in blue. You can always try to tweek perfection but in the end, I reckon its best just to enjoy wallowing in!!! BTW, I am SO GLAD it is FINALLY the month of May!!!!
