Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW New Golf Mk V 2.0TDi DSG Pacific owner

Just wanted to say Hi to all. Have bought a Golf Mk V 2.0TDi Pacific DSG.....and I'm in LOVE!!!!
Everything about it, from the torque, handling, space, DSG, build quality, and especially the economy....everything.
Never thought I could get 1000+km from $60 of diesel when driven in anger, & more when driven "conservatively".
I am now a diesel convert, and dont think I could ever go back to a petrol again...unless I win Powerball.

Anyway, I really enjoy reading all the posts, very informative and interesting to to see what everyone thinks and does to their cars, and gives me lots of ideas, so thanks and keep it up.

    Welcome to the forums.
Glad to hear you are enjoying your new ride.
I believe Dermot (A member on here) got over 1200km from a tank in his TDI Passat CC.

Feel free to show us some pictures of your ride.

    Any future plans for it?
(Oettinger chip to boost power would be my first mod)

        Cheers Guys,

        team_v,
Would love to chip it, but a void warranty is the main fear there. Want to get some 17's on it with lower springs just to make it a little "meaner".
Best economy to date was 1130km with 110km till empty so your right on there.
Want to look into the Provent as it seems like a bit of an issue that needs fixing. So that will be a job to do.

        Fox,
bought it from VW Penrith and they are tops. If you're in Sydney, go and see Troy Hooper, and he will fix you up straight away. Mine was ex-demo with 6000km, factory dark tints, mats, no sat nav (as I know Sydney pretty well). Paid $25k with a trade in that was worth $3500. Everyone else was quoting $32k+ for higher milage identical cars. Troy fixed me up within 2 phone calls and I went out and bought it......and fell in love (with the car, not him). They also really look after you with servicing, as my 15k was like being looked after at a hotel. Can't praise the whole team out there enough. And black looks awesome!!!!
Good luck finding one, you definitely WONT look back once you're in one.
