Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Intro

    Hello all

    I'm Ryan from Melbourne, VIC. I am planning to buy a certain Golf 6 118 TSI second hand in about 3-4 months time. I've found a new cheap RNS510 system on an Ebay shop that I want to add, and will also see how easy/costly it is to add MDI (USB) and Bluetooth.

    I've joined since this site seems to have the best info regarding VW's in Australia (I'm glad to have read the recommendation regarding a Skoda BT kit for example). I might lie dormant for a bit and read a few other posts before asking more specific stuff closer to the date of purchase. I've already read the user manuals for the Golf, so I know a bit about it.

    Hi mate.
    Welcome to the forums.

    You will probably find ebay (worldwide search) to be the cheapest option for MDI and bluetooth.

    If you want to go for a proper company, i believe ECSTuning has them and there is a group buy being organised for their products in the for sale section which should reduce shipping and with teh strong aussie dollar should prove quite cheap in comparrison to the VW dealer.

      VW RNS 510 MFD3 Sat Nav Version C Volkswagen RNS510 - eBay, Navigation, GPS, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 16-Apr-10 21:23:17 AEST)

      I'm sure I can find a good place to purchase after a while of searching, I'm more concerned about installation. I haven't worked out exactly what VAG-COM and CAN gateways are yet.

      Does the captcha requirement disappear after posting x amount of times, or do all members have to continuously use it?
