Hello fellow Audi owners just found out about this forum tonight from a A4 owner in WAs quokka newspaper. First time I have joined any forum so here goes.
September 2008 I bought a 1993, 80E 2.8lt manual cheap and despite having to spend some $ on it, loved the car even though it was front wheel drive. I bought it as an interim while waiting for a LHD BMW M5 to be rebuilt. If I had bought the 80 as a quattro I would not have parted with it. I regularly did fuel economy tests on it because I have a friend ( Ken) who sells a friction modifier oil additive and fuel additive. My last fuel economy run achieved 784 km to a tankful of petrol ( 70 lts) and others were not far away. Unfortunately a quality car was compromised by faulty fuel and temperature guages.
Anyway a girlfriend now has the 80 and 12months ago I bought a 2001 A6 quattro biturbo tiptronic in Sydney and ken and I drove it back to WA. It is a wonderful open road car and love it except for the tiptronic which I tolerate.
