Hi everyone. I am new to VW...actually I had a Golf in the mid 70s but does that count?!
I really wish that I had discovered this forum before I bought my Passat diesel a few weeks ago....I love the car (previously had an Outback and before that a Z4), particularly the 5.2 L/100k economy that I have been getting...
BUT:
* Such outdated maps! I dream of the day when V16 is available. No, I never received DVDs with the car, but am not chasing as I hope that they will be outdated asp so that I can actually find my way to the E of Melbourne and W of Geelong. My geriatric Melways is better than the maps on the VW GPS at present. I have resorted to using my old TomTom for guidance!
* In ordering 'OEM Bluetooth' I presumed that I would at least be able to make calls legally from the car. Goodness, I had a Parrot in the Subaru (at less than 1/2 the $ price for the VW OEM) and at least on that I could push a button and make a call. Is the Bluetooth offered by VW really of 'merchantable quality' when it cannot be used to legally make calls? May the ACCC would take interest? I understand from these forums that the VW offering in Australia is based on a Nokia unit - why then is the standard Nokia 'push to call' button not available to the driver? I am still awaiting a response from my dealer about either fixing the problem or removing the unit and refunding the $. At least they agree 'the one that you currently have I guess not suitable for you in any way'.
Thanks for the forum and all the detailed content that it offers.
