  • NSW Golf VI or VII?

Hi Guys My name is Marcelo
    I currently own a Golf MKV 2.0.
I had it since 07, when I bought it brand new and it has been a great car to drive.
Time now for an upgrade, I have been waiting to test-drive the Golf R to see if it's worth the extra over the GTI.
Then yesterday, I found out that VW has already decided to end the MK VI production by the end of 2011!
Anyway, would be good to know from other VW fans whether it's a good move to spend so much money on a car that has already a replacement on it's way.
    Thanx
    Marcelo

    I would hold off.
    The mk6 is a facelifted mk5.

The mk7 will be a big difference in both styling and mecanicals so i would wait for that one.
So long as the mk5 is still going well, why not keep it, save the money you would have lost from depreciation of the mk6 and go on a holiday.
    Much more enjoyable.

Thanx, That's what I've been thinking.
The dilemma is in that in two or three years from now, I may need to buy a bigger car as we are planning to have kids soon
So I've been thinking that now may be the last chance I have, to buy a Golf R or GTI.
I was even thinking about buying an R32 but now with the MKVI on it's way in a couple of years, I'll would still be paying premium price for a car that it going to be 3 generations old soon.

Do u want a car now or in 3+ years?

The 6 will most likely get superceded by the 7 in 2011 (late), but it will be 2012 before it gets to australia (at the earliest) and if history is anything to go by the performance models will be a year behind so you are looking at 2013 or in the case of the "R" version, possibly even 2014.

Lifes too short to wait 4 years to change a 3 year old car.

I will most likely have at least 2 more between now and then.

          Thanx Steve

Good point, Putting it this way 4 years is even longer that the whole time I have owned my Golf for.

I think the MKVII R wouldn't be here until 2014 at least, By then I would be thinking about upgrading again!

          Thanx guys

Buy the Golf R now as 4 years is a long time then if you need to upgrade to a bigger car the right vehicle may be out by then.
