Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT Hello from Olaf!

So, having only ever had cars which i bought for $500... i've finally splurged and bought a new car. Figure i want one which will last me through a mortgage i'm inexorably moving towards... lol.

    So meet Olaf:

I've had him for a week and i'm in loooooove! I keep finding all these features i didn't know about and it just keeps on surprising me! Worst surprise i had was getting a nail in my tyre 5mins after leaving the dealership with it but got it patched the next morning and all was good again...

This purchase does come tinged with sadness though as i'm having to sell my motorbike between us my bf and i have 4 motorbikes (total of 7 in our garage) and i just can't justify having all of them while paying off a new car.

so RIP to my motorbike, bought as a wreck and lovingly repaired by myself, i hope she finds a great new home with someone.

So i thought i'd say hi to you all!

I do have a question first up, we've been talking to people, and the dealer i bought the car from about chipping... we've been told there's a chip which will bump the kw up to 150 thereabouts. My dealer has said they won't do the work but they're tolerant of it being done and not voiding the warranty. Just wondering if anyone's done this sort of thing? and up's/down's? ect.

    Cheers!

    g'day!

firstly.... LOVE the Suzi SV's, such a nice sounding engine!

secondly, use the search function, there are endless threads that discuss chippings up's and down's (more up's than downs FYI ) They will answer ALL of your questions in regards to upping the power of your new Golf!

Thirdly, welcome! Enjoy your stay, welcome to the VW fold!

p.s post some pictures of the rest of your motorbikes

      Cheers! I should mention it's a 2010 118 comfortline TSi

well, i did do some (a lot) of modifying to my bike recently which made it look like this:

Which looked GREAT. but made the front end incredibly heavy and harder to handle, and it had the steering circle of an ocean liner. So i decided it was better off naked and took it all off again and it is! leo vince pipe on the bike and it sounds awesome. and now i'm saying all this it's just making it harder to sell... lol! if it doesn't sell soon i'm going to make the silly decision that i can really afford to keep them both, which really... i can't. lol.

thanks for the welcome! and this is my partners new drool-worthy toy:

a 2008 KTM RC8. the akra pipe on that will drown out any sound my bike makes...
other bikes in the stable atm are:
      2002 KTM 640 adventure
KTM 950 adventure (we really should have shares in the company at this point)
      2001 Ducati 750SS
2005? Husaberg 450 or something monstrous
and currently holding onto a CBR250RR for a mate overseas.
