Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • pop-top for SWB Multivan

I am joining this group, wanting to know how to convert a Multivan T5 SWB with a pop-top with a roofbed.

    pop-top for SWB Multivan

I talked to Trakka and they said they only do LWB T5 pop-top, and said that no one else in Australia will do a SWB pop-top, is that true? Has anyone put a pop-top and roof bed in a SWB multivan? Any recommendations?

I am planning to buy a 2nd hand multivan and add pop-top/roof bed, so that we can use the vehicle day-to-day and also use it as a camper during holiday ( to sleep the kids). If we buy a caravan, there is separate rego, insurance to pay and the caravan sit there most of the time doing nothing. Having a pop-top/roof bed also means that we don't have to stay in a caravan park and pay fees.

Has anyone done that? And can you share your experience with me? What are the costs? Thank you.
