Hi there,
I own a Mk1 GLI Cabrio, EG engine, matching numbers- currently rebuilding the engine: those heron pistons were expensive!!
Also own a 1978 GLD
where did you source the pistons from? whenever i need to get a part i get them from germany or UK at a huge price difference to what places in Aus charge.

They ended up coming from somewhere in Perth.....We searched everywhere including Germany and the UK (both privately and through VW parts suppliers) and that was the only set we could find..... apparently they are difficult (and expensive) to make because of the bowl in piston design.......
