Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC New to the scene

    Hi all,

Ive been a fan of dubs for as long as i remember, got the bug after my dad as we had many mk1's as family cars. Went to my first ever show at the SEDF and loved it! dragged a mate down from Sydney to check it out also. Lawney suggested i join VWW and what a piece of advice! I definatly want to get in the scene!

Currently i own a 4door mk1 which im putting up for sale as "the dream project" is a 2 door. A friend of mine offered to sell me his shell along with two and a half other golfs in bits n boxes. Originally wanted to place a 1.8t powerplant after inspiration from that tassie gti but upon greater research decided upon a VR6 with a hint of turbo but keeping in mind im a student (meaning im hovering just under the poverty line) this will be a little long term.

    what are you opinions?

    Nice work mate!

    I personally think a VR6 engine is too heavy for a Mk1.

Better of having a well balanced car set-up with a hot 8v, 16v or 20v.

Make sure you get some pics up and get your VW mates to join up aswell...

    Cheers James
