Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Noob - Bora 4motion

    Hi

Looking to get into a Bora 4motion for my first ever dub. It seems "Getta" front swaps aren't quite appreciated but i'm really keen to do one when i get the car. Has anyone done the swap on the forum? And how much are R32 front bumpers selling for? Looks quite unbalanced with the stock golf front end. Thanks

      Hi..Welcome to the forum.
Not a fan of the "getta's" myself, more a moderate fan of the "bolf or Gora" lol. But props for thinking about doing something different. Genuine R32 bumpers are probably best sourced from o/s, perhaps have a look at ecs and tmt tuning to start. Occasionally some come up on ebay, but they are probably replica.

Keep the Bora as a BORA.
I have seen pictures oF Golfs with Bora fronts,Bora with Golf fronts, and IMHO they look wierd.

TMtuning have the R32 style front bumper and skirts for our Bora ..., I actually priced this recently and it was over 1300USD shipped, then factor in prep, paint and fit.

            These keep the Bora headlights...

Thanks for the info guys. If i do get the swap done I'll just invest in the golf R32 front bumper and get the skirts later seeing as its only $760US by itself. Springs and shocks are a priority so I need to include that into the budget with shipping, prep and paint.

My honda has 350,000km on the clock now and i'm overdue for a new car. Not sad at all to see it go, but to get the bora i'm going to have to sell my bike which is going to be hard I really cannot get through a winter using my bike as a commuter.

Glad to see a bolf in australia, JLT's looks amazing! Always preferred the bolf over the gora. But personally for the price i think a 4motion is a better buy then the Gti despite not having as much tuning support as the turbo, which is why im going the gora route.
