Shame it wouldn't be worth a $ over 10k though, try to find one with under 130k, and having done the major timing belt/water pump service.80,000km 1997 MK3 VR6 manual for sale - www.vwwatercooled.org.au/forums/f23/80-000km-1997-manual-vr6-nsw-sydney-67658.html

11,500-13k, no more. Nice 100k< GTI's go for 9-10k at auction so that's a price indicator.Originally posted by undisclos3d View PostAh really? So if I found one like that what would you reckon it would be worth?80,000km 1997 MK3 VR6 manual for sale - www.vwwatercooled.org.au/forums/f23/80-000km-1997-manual-vr6-nsw-sydney-67658.html

Have a look on here and google for the differences between the models, because there is a massive difference between the models. Don't even bother looking at the 2.0l's unless they're ridiculously cheap i.e. 8k< for those k's.Originally posted by undisclos3d View PostAh yup thanks heaps. There is a 2004 golf sport 2.0 l with around 90 thousand k's on it. Going for I think $14300. I really wanted a turbo but would the 2.0 be a good deal?80,000km 1997 MK3 VR6 manual for sale - www.vwwatercooled.org.au/forums/f23/80-000km-1997-manual-vr6-nsw-sydney-67658.html

Agree with Gofl Houso, the number of times I've heard people say to make sure the timing belt has been done is crazy. If it breaks suddenly, you can be up for a huge bill with what can break.
Lower kms is better, the car had been chipped and had an exhaust done which could save you a few $$$, but might also indicate how its been driven.
The Mk5 TFSI is a punchy little car, but the 2L N/A really is not in the same league as the 1.8T's.
Good luck.
