Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW maintining a polo tdi

I have been an air cooled VW supporter for years until they brought out the TDI Polo abd then I couldn't resist any longer.
I still have two beetles 73 and 58 and a KG 1960 plus a garage full of parts, some even for the kombie.
we get about 4.8l/km and I do all the servicing myself to save money
I bought some new mags from ebay for $120 each and have just put some new 205x40x17 rubber on them at $95 each fitted YS-618 (Michellin copies) excellent!
I was going to get an alignment done as well, but heard some stuff about Polos not having much adjustment, so I thought I'd seach and see what was being said.
That is how I got here.
I think I will find this a good way to keep in touch with other VW owners as the trip to club meetings of 100km round trip was what stopped me from keeping it up, that and the fact that I couldn't get to most of the outings, etc.

Welcome mate, good to have you onboard.

Wheel alignment is important, help you get the most out of your fuel, tyre life and traction.

There is minimal adjustment in terms of camber and caster. That said, definitely should get an alignment done as from the dealership they can be a bit out.

Plenty of good info on here for basic car info, maintenane and if you're wanting a bit more from your Pog, an ECU retune or some suspension mods.

    See you around the forum.

      alignment mystery

I had it aligned a couple of times and it still pulled to the left, but after blowing a tyre in a pothole and getting a new one fitted and balanced at tyres for less Fairfield, it now goes straight. I don't know what happened, but it is fixed and it doesn't seem to make sense...a bit of a mystery eh?
