Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Just bought a Bora 4motion :)

Picked up the car last night.
Still can't get over the value for money.
It was far ahead of anything else in my budget, features and engine-wise, and I've loved driving it so far!
It's in good condition, full service history, 100,000km.
The only thing not stock are the Koni rear shocks, and a nokia bluetooth kit (which is very handy).

Some pics (though they certainly don't do the car much justice):

                  Congratulations on your Bora.
The 4 motion is a stunning car, yours looks like it was very well looked after.
What year is it,and how much did it cost ?

What car have you replaced it with, and what others were you considering ?

Power and handling is much better than I've had before, so not much to compare to :p
                    It's a 2002 model, and I paid $14700.
It replaced a '97 Celica. I loved the looks but the engine was pretty rubbish, and it's nice to have some real luxury in the bora :p
Also, FWD started to get old

Like Pater said, welcome to the 4mo family. These seem to becoming the flavour recently as I have heard of about 4 new (used) ones here on the forum. I have had my 2003 for 2.5 years and still love it!

What part of Syd you in? Dyldo, Manaz and I hooked up for a mini 4mo gtg one arfternoon, if your close, we could organise another.

                        I'm Lower North Shore.
I wouldn't be surprised if more pop up, seems to be a great time to buy them considering the price :p
Seeing that I just bought the car, and it's fantastic to drive, I don't mind travelling!

HEY buddy, grats and welcome. I know this car, bought from St Ives right?

Very nice. Mine is only about 8 weeks old in my possession and i have already done a few mods (can't help myself). As Goodfella said, i'm in town as well and would love a GTG.

....be a good chance for me to steal more stuff from Goodfella's car like his steering wheel

car looks the goods btw - any plans?

Yeah, previous owner was in St Ives :p
Plenty of ideas, but the only solid plan is a rear sway bar right now.
Down the track, haldex controller, some nice OEM 18" wheels and a bit of a drop, and that would probably do me.
