Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Frustrated with this Website

    Hey Guys,

I can totally understand trying to rid the members who join this site only to spam, but it's forcing a lot of genuine members to give up and go elsewhere.

I joined this site to get more information on watercooled Dubs but have only been deterred from posting. I wanted to put up a wanted ad in search for a MK2 and couldn't. Now i've got one i need some parts, and can't even post for that. I'm very frustrated that i can't use this forum unless i post a million posts of useless stuff (which might as well be spam anyway). My partner tried posting a few times and his post count didn't change so made no difference.

    Can we please change this?

You'll find it's the same on tons of forums, my favourite buying and selling forum makes you wait 3 months before being to trade, and subsequently I have never been ripped off by dirty spammers/traders.

        Stick with it Ash.
Don't be shy - start a new thread on your mk2.
Most genuine members have started a thread on their car - where they (by having a conversation) bump up their post count to get proper classifieds access.

You'll find it is a hurdle worth jumping on your mk2 journey.

As a side note - On many forums posts in the off-topic sections (rightfully) don't add to your post count.

it may be frustrating Ash, but its a worthy requirement.

Imagine if it wasnt required, you'd be complaining about all the crap that gets posted about absolutely nothing to do with VW

Make 5 comments on a build thread and you can access classifieds. And ask the necessary questions in the Mk2 section and you are away.

I don't really see what there is to whinge about?

In any case, welcome and hope to see you nd your mk2 around

Yeah its not many posts to have to get. Most websites make you get at least 50 posts before you can trade.

My partner (kombibob) has done quite a few posts to try and pad the count a bit, but hasn't worked. Still wont allow him to post a thread up.
