  • New guy seeks VR6

    Hi Guise

Some of you may know me from other car forums

I currently drive a 2002 Nissan 200sx and am looking to sell and pick up a VR6 Golf. Mid nineties model (i say it like that because I have no idea what the specific model/Chassis codes are are yet)

Hopefully my car sells in the next month or so, so I can check out a few i've seen on carsales.

Plan is to find a good one, buy it, get some nice rims with good offset, and lower it.

Glad to be part of the community

    Brendan

    Hey mate, welcome.
Best bet is look at the Mk3 section.
What you are seeking is a Mk3 VR6 on the 1H chassis. The early models have the moulded black plastic arch trims, the later ones painted metal (amongst other things)

Look in the mk3 section, have a look at a few of the builds, when your post count is up, jump down to the classifieds, there is always VR's circulating

Would be nice to see pics of your S15 too

I'm wishing I steered totally clear of my VR6.
Nothing but bull**** problems popping up since I bought it.

I shouldn't complain about the pissweak auto, because I had a lot of advice to go manual and didn't.
Since buying my car, the auto shat reverse out (serves me right), but then:
            Cruise control stopped working.
One of the power windows died.
Engine's f*cked (bent valves/lifted head or something similar) at only 125,000kms, and that's with a pretty good service history.

Since I bought it, it's been hard-parked, more than driven.

Obviously, my car's a lemon. I inspected everything I've learnt to. Box showed no signs of weakness, neither did the electrics. Engine pulled hard and smoothly, idled perfectly etc. etc.
All of the above problems reared their ugly heads within 2 months of my ownership.

I 100% regret the fact I didn't stick with JDM.
            Just my 2¢.

Brendan Welcome to the forum. VR6's aren't the cheapest cars to run so buying one that doesn't have problems will be a start.

ah yeah i saw this car on the jap forums when i was tossing up between a mk4 and S15 ...bought a mk4 coz i already know them and i was advised against mk3 unless i was prepared to spend a fair bit just fixing it up with all the stuff that wears out just because of age.

no offence to mk3 dudes but i reckon if u wanna go euro check out mk4 boras and GTIs. ...u can even go jdm on a bora lol

I originally looked at Boras and even Passats, but with a budget of about $8000 i would prefer to buy something older and leave a little bit of $$$ for rims.

I do like the interiors of the newer models. Leap years ahead of the mk3s IMO.

Anyway... what do i need to do to get access to the classified sections? I'd prefer to buy something off an enthusiast rather than random.

I think you need a post count of 10. Dribble some **** here and there and you will be right.

There is a colour concept on the first page of the cars for sale section, so there is a bit of luck.

schoona well i suppose u can go jdm on a mk3 but it doesnt look any good and boras are more commonly jdm'd than mk3s ...actually its probably more usdm than jdm
