  • looking to purchase R36

I have been reading this forum for some time, some great information.

Still deciding between a few cars but have my heart set on a R36 sedan.

Any particular reason why your going for the R36?

How much do they go for?

Looking for a compromise between sports and practicability (two children).

      It basically came down to;

      G6E Turbo
      R36
      Liberty GT

The Liberty GT is simply too ugly. Full stop.

G6E Turbo is a great car, with awesome acceleration.

The R36 is just more complete IMHO. Much better interior. Better standard features and the tipping point was probably the DSG. Also very worried about the resale on the G6E Turbo.

the R36 in blue ...classy sporty refined and even looks a bit expensive ...sedan and wagon are equally impressive, probably the only wagon i actually like.

have u taken one for a test drive and just out of curiousity did u consider the passat cc?

Have taken both the G6E Turbo and R36 for a spin. Liberty just too ugly.

Did not consider the CC as need the extra space for the children (i.e. getting small children in and out of baby seats would be more difficult in the CC with its roofline IMO).

Was looking at black or icelandic grey.

yeah the liberty is a shocker, i work at the subaru parts warehouse and the carpark is full of them ...anyhoo, the grey is probably the best colour on sedan R36s whereas the blue suits the wagon alot better, probably because of the chrome roof rails. i hang out in the city a fair bit and i saw a black sedan, didnt look very special at all for some reason.

Good decision. Just got rid of my Liberty GT Spec B for a Golf VI GTi, no looking back! I had an MY04 Liberty GT which was a cracker, upgraded to MY07 GT Spec B which was slower, heavier, softer, disappointing. Test drove the MY10 GT and hated it - ugly, cheap feeling inside, big and smooth but boring and too glitzy inside. It's official, Subaru has lost the plot and lost my business.

G6E Turbo is fast and looks OK but heaps of them around, terrible fuel consumption and resale poor (better to buy second hand).

All in all R36 looks the goods to me.

This is my first post so just wanted to say hi to everyone.
Just picked up my silver R36 sedan yesterday and am thrilled with the car. Have been driving a 350Z for the past few years but had to find a bigger car as our first baby is on the way. Was initially concerned that I will be giving up the fun factor, but all that has been laid to rest after spending a day with the new car - it is awesome!
Looking forward to chatting with some of you guys who have had the R36 for longer and maybe learning a thing or two from you.

I've always been a golf man. but the R36 is not a bad looking set of wheels.
