Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

No stable date, i'm a web developer and thats in demand (last time i checked) so reckon i need to get a bit more experience under my belt before i come over.

Yea i got the same username on the-corrado.net but if i'm gonna bring it over i'd better get aquainted!

I was over this time last year and lasted about 2 months because I couldn't get any work in my area and i'm not gonna fork out to serve people in a bar in each state! Was mainly in Upwey, Vic and Albany Creek, Qld.

It's kinda hard to find a sponsor when there are hardly any companies willing to go out on a limb though

****, sorry about the big picture size!!

this was when i first got the rado last year.

I haven't done much to it so far, replaced all the hoses with goodridge, upgraded the 16v calipers to vr6 and got g60 discs.
Done both rear bearings and replaced the rear pads

Next on the list is rear axle bushes but thats a garage job!

Nice one, that would be a late spec '92 2.0 16V then?

How about applying for permanent residency mate? If you've got the right qualifications you wouldn't need much work experience, or sponsership.

Aye i would but i don't fancy getting landed in Adelaide (no offense) as thats where i'm hearing people are getting put.

It's a late 92 16v with early interior was registered 2 weeks before the catalytic converter law came into effect

How much did it cost to get your car shipped over?

That sounds weird, didn't matter where i moved to when i arrived, and i lived in Melbourne for a year as well, no restrictions at all.
Lucky find by the sound of it with no cat!!

My car all up was about $8000 to get here, thats including shipping, customs, tax, rego and plates. Then insurance with Shannons was another $1200, so you may as well put 4-5000GBP aside for it! You may be able to save a bit on it, just depends how you do it.

Adelaide isn't that bad, except this week with the 43degrees.

If you have a permanent visa you can go where you like. I had an SIR so could only come to Adelaide at the time. Now permy and can go where I like.

                      And welcome to the forum.
