Hey, I'm living in Melbourne and have been around VW's (Golfs specifically) for 20 years now. Came over from the UK 13 years ago and brought my mark 1 GTI Campaign edition with me but have sold that now. Found a mark 1 with a G60 motor in it a few years back and raced it and daily drove it a bit - its a bit worse for wear now though, time for a resto maybe. Had loads of Golfs mark 1s, 2s, 16Vs and a few 4's.

Welcome to the forum.
What needs doing on the G60? Need to see pictures.
Cheers

You name it.........
I'd probably start with a recon job on the g lader. Then I'd dump the 'top' mount intercooler and fit a front mount.
Brakes are rooted.
Its basically been stood for a few years whilst I've played with 4wd jap turbos (easier to get power out of!)
I'll try and find a photo.

OK, sorry, didn't know how to put them all in one photo montage and add text.
Anyway just a bit of further history this motor was the first ever transplant of a g60 into a mark 1. This was performed by Tim Stiles Racing of Bridgewater Somerset, UK, longer ago than I care to remember. THIS WAS NOT THE SHELL IT WAS INSTALLED INTO THOUGH. (Before anyone gets excited!) Th eprevious owner bought just the motor in the UK and shipped it out here. He then put it in this Aussie build 1977 shell. I got th emotor going, fitted Konis, stripped the interior, painted it, added the wheels, strut braces, etc, etc, etc.

A few Trimsport bits on there too I see.
A front mount would be a nice improvement. I had a couple of G60s, a MK2 GTI and a Passat Syncro.
Heatsoak is a killer on them in a UK summer, it must be a lot worse here.
