  • Another hi from the UK

Lurked here ages ago when I was over for a few months. Missed out on any meets going on so never bothered registering.

Coming over in May/June for a year... maybe more, so might aswell say hi. Starting to investigate bringing my 3dr mk2 with me, but looks like I can't; 7 months too new and I'm not over on a PR

Welcome mate, yeah you have to be a permenant resident of Australia to bring one over.....BUT... i'm pretty sure you can bring a car here for 1 year without PR. More info here... http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa...ral/index.aspx

Whereabouts in Australia will you be for a year, or will you be travelling around?

Heaps of UK peeps joining here. A sign of quality information I suggest (however I have had to join UK forums to get some answers lately - haha)

G'day mate. Will you be here for the Ashes next summer? We owe you some payback, haha.

        Cheers

The carnet thingy... not worth it, it's nothing particularly special so no point bringing it over if I've gotta pay way more than it's worth in the UK to send it back again.

I'll be mainly in Perth as I've got family there but should be getting about... plan is to travel around doing the 3 months regional thing to get the 2nd year, and that'll give me a good 18months to try and find a way of getting PR

You're the guy who bought the corrado with you yeah? Remember reading the thread on e38 years ago when you sent it out, had some picture of it under the harbour bridge.

Yeah that would be me, theres been a few more corrados imported since then too.

I agree with you on the camet thing, not really worth it but thought i'd mention it.

What do you for work? Anything that will help you get PR?

All sorts of computer work, currently doing web development for embedded systems. No degree though so the ACS wants 8 years experience, and a lot of my years don't count according to their rules.

Figured might aswell try and finish that off somewhere less grey than the UK and try the temporary route first at the same time. We'll see.
