Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi guys, first post.i am originally from the uk now living in Melbourne for the past 4 years, joined up to this site to see if any mk1 or mk2 gti's were for sale but somehow cant get into the classifieds section.I have had a few standard golfs and polos in the uk and a couple of audi 80s and want to get back into the german cars.
Sell me your MK2 gti, 16v if possible?

    Hey mate

    welcome to the forum.

unfortunately mk 1 gti's are very few and far between, and often not cheap if you can find em! mk 2 gti's are more common, but we only officiall got 1.8 8V 4 doors, so not exactly pick of the crop.

    Enjoy your stay!

Welcome mate, a few of us are from the UK on here, me included!

As Jarred said, Mk1 GTI's are very rare (personal imports only). The Mk2's are all 5 door 8V versions with less power than the european 8V too

No Corrados or Mk3 GTI's, only 5 Dr VR6's were sold here, no Mk4 3dr GTI's and only 200 Mk4 R32s also! We get most of the newer model VWs here but no new Sciroccos either.

Where in the UK are you from?

Cool, i grew around Mk2's aswell, i've had 4 of them and brought the Corrado over here from the UK with me.
You'll find plenty of Mk2 5drs for sale, they're just a bit of a let down performance wise if you're used to the UK versions like the 16V or G60.

            Welcome to the forum.

You need to have a 10 posts or be a member for 30days IIRC before you can access the classifieds. Shouldn't take you too long to run them up.

Goodluck finding a G60. I reckon there can't be more than 4/5 running in Australia.
