    Hi All

I'm just joining this group to get some information and show my disgust in MkV Golfs

My parents have a 2005 2.0FSI Comfortline manual golf and have had nothing but problems with it over the course of its 55,000km life.

The latest problem is the rear wiper working without activation for about 10seconds, when the ignition is first turned on. Apart from that just happening, it has also had the ignition coils just fail (2009: cost $500), the dash fail completely (2009: cost $1000 - the dash was dimming prior to this, but problem was never rectified under warranty), a rear door lock jam (2009 under warranty), excess oil consumption since new (with noticable burnt oil on the hatch), rear brake pads fail after 20,000km (still seems to make a grating sound) and a creaking sound in the front end (we've enquired about it, but they can't find any problems, yet!!).

Oh yeah forgot to mention - the rear main seal had to be replaced as it was leaking (2007 : Luckily it was done under warranty)

Welcome to the forum mate. Ouch it certainly sounds like you've had a run of bad luck with the car. Sounds like major electrical gremlins behind the steering wheel & stalks! 20000km on pads isn't that bad, unfortunately they all seem to be softer compounds these days unless you specifically upgrade them to something harder. The discs/rotors may need a skim to even the surface up too which could be causing excess wear. Front end creaking could be suspension related - lower control arm bushes, top mounts or something similar?

Glad I have a Mk IV (not that that helps you...) G/L in your search for answers

I would have said welcome, but if that is your first post and the car isn't actually yours to whinge about...

tell your parents not to take it to a VW dealer again. There are a couple of specialist shops in Perth with people who know what they are doing. I had a really bad experience with OP VW and they will never see my car again
