Announcement

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW NEW Pirelli owner (turned to the dark side)

    Hi fellas,

Though I might join this forum to meet a few of you fellas and exchange some useful Intel in the near future.....
WILL attend one of the drive days and talk to some of you enthusiasts....
MORE so, very interested in tracking the car....

I always loved Hot Hatch cars, and now I can official say that I owned and driven a fair few.... Started of with a Renault Sport 182 CUP, then a Renault Megane R26 and now I bought myself the PIRELLI GTI, 3dr, DSG....

Like with any car there are many pros and cons when comparing cars (especially to the one you previously owned) BUT I will leave that till I drive the car for a good couple of months before a final decision is made.....

I got the PIRELLI in replacement of a Renault Sport Megane R26, which I had a car accident with.... Some nut bag decided to run a red light and I, unfortunately was there to stop him.... T-boned me driver’s side....

With the Megane R26 I participated in many private track days and participated in the European Performance Car Challenge this year.... I hope to do the same with the PIRELLI but unfortunately do NOT think ill get the same times on the track compared to the R26.... Worth a try….
The Megane R26 was an awesome piece of machinery on the race track and due to my crazy driving + the quiet whistle of the Megane R26; I was given the nick name “Silent Assassin”…..
If anyone out there has, or is willing to track their VW, can I be your best friend

Just wondering if there is anyone out there with a APR Tuned PIRELLI, that I can possibly meet with and witness what the extra 60KW feels like on the road????

ALSO did anyone consider putting in an LSD in their PIRELLI????
WILL the LSD from the NEW GTI fit the Pirelli????

I will search the forum over the next couple of months/years as there is way too much info to absorb since I know nothing about VW as I am a RENAULT enthusiast.....

    Take care and safe driving.....

    Welcome mate,

I too have a Pirelli (in Sydney), a great little package with a good base for further mods.

Here are 2 fellow Pirelli owners (both in WA) who have spent some serious cash on theirs, mainly with APR stuff. End results are 2 animals.....

I think there are other Pirelli owners here, with stage 1 and 2 GIAC and Bluefin modded Pirellis.

    all the best

    CC

I think its possible to get a 6 hour APR flash for free, just to give you a taste of that dark side.

but beware, once youve tried it, you might have to hand over the cash for keeps

So there's a track and driver training day organised for next year the thread is over at golfmkv.com.

19 signed up so far, so still room for more before the booking is made.
