I've ordered a Golf GTD and am told I'll have it in May '10 if VW proceed with the model's release here. Failing that, my fallback is a 103TDI. Look forward to your company.

Thanks, Neil. Yes, a long wait, but I'll last the distance because I want one. Dealer says Aust versions will be 5dr and DSG only. Base price $39990 and, it seems, strictly non-negotiable. He is quietly confident the price is right, although there is a variation clause in the contract, naturally, this far out, but he insists that will work both ways.

Good thought, but I'm not sure I want a boot and the rear view camera option on the Golf appeals. But bi-xenons are not available on the 103TDI, so its a dilemma. Fingers crossed for the GTD in the flesh.

Just a follow-up on delivery. It seems I'm looking at possibly 12 month's wait due to VW backlog in filling orders. And if I switch to a 103TDI I can't have bi-xenons, but if I migrate to NZ I can. Go figure.

Dencar . Whats the latest on the release date for the GTD and how much was the dealer asking to place the order. $39,990 sounds a resonable price for it with DSG and 5 doors. Was that price with xenons and before onroads .
