Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi everyone! I have a '97 Jetta vr6 and im trying to learn as much as i can about these cars. This is actually my second vr since my last one was stolen a few years back and its been great having another vr.

The A3 Jetta was called the Vento in Australia, and was only sold as a 2.0 GL.
It was sold from mid 1995-early 1997,and only about 400 units were sold new.
    Good luck with your VR6.
It was a very popular car in South Africa.

i see. so thats why they put the vento emblems, because of its rarity?

It was also called the Vento in Germany - so you'll probably find the rebadging as Vento in the US is trying to make the cars more "Euro"...
        Nothing to see here...
