Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA - My latest acquisition [NEW VW]

    Hey guys,

Firstly, this is such a great forum and I've been lurking around and digging up all the info I could before purchasing a VW [an avid VW fan for years] and now after 1 week of driving the MkV GTI, no one can wipe the satisfaction off my face.

This car is perfect and has everything I could ask for. The tone of the 3" exhaust, the DSG gearbox is spot on, the auto windows to all four windows [except the front passenger, will go down but not up], the leather interior, styling and the quality trim.

I'm slowly in the process of converting it back to stock and will have a few items up for sale soon, inc. 18" rims, KW coilovers, Black housing LED tail lights and more.

    Five8 out.

Welcome five8! Congratulations on the new car.

The KW should be tunable, so you can soften them up if they are riding hard right now (go to wheels world in osborne park if you want some advice).
The ride height of a standard car won't be as satisfying or as aesthetically pleasing
The handling you're currently enjoying will also suffer a bit (not terribly, but it will be much softer/rolly around corners).

All depends on what you're chasing though, and if that is a stock GTI, go for it!

What tune is on it? is the 3" exhaust a custom job or something off the shelf?
      Typically you wouldn't fine a MKV car with a 3" exhaust (stock is 2.5") without a retune/remap from Bluefine/APR/Revo/GIAC.

Ive got a similar problem with the passenger window on my S3, which quattro motors has suggested is likely to be the regulator.

oh, and welcome aboard, and definitely keep it as it is, you will grow to love the mods, and it makes your car just that little bit more special than the next one!

Thanks, I might drop by Wheels World one of these days and check them out. I've heard some positive comments about them.

Would like a ride where I didn't feel every bump, corners don't really matter to me but as the trade off for a slightly softer ride will be more beneficial.

          Will post pics soon.
