    Hi guys,

Adelaide here; I have a 2001 Audi S3, which I guess makes us close cousins. Looks like a cool community here!

    Here's the ride:

One thing I'm wondering... why the focus on "water cooled" in the name? Were there air cooled VW's?

    Catchya's.

Yeah, in the olden days they were all aircooled.

There was an air cooled forum already, aussie veedubbers IIRC so the founders created VWWC.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Hi there. Nice looking Audi you've got there.

For the 1st 25 years (approx. 1949-1974) of its life, VW only made aircooled cars (though there may be exceptions). The classic beetles, kombis, KGs and type 3s are all aircooled, and to many of their owners, the only real VWs. AVD is where it's at for those cars : http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/

I've straddled the line and owned a later model bug and an early watercooled (Mk 1 Golf). Mk 1s are much more modern for bugs, and way more basic than most of the cars on VWW.

      Cheers
