Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • TAS G'day!

Hey everyone I'm new to the forum but have been lurking around here for a while learning about and admiring all the cars on here! I hoping to get my license in the next few weeks, yeah I'm a slack 18 year old however I've always loved cars and over the past year or so I've developed a keen interest in Golf Mk1s. I'm looking to get one for a big summer project and by the end I should have my dream car!! A GTI would be nice but is unlikely I'll find one cheap enough and will probably just end up just putting a new engine in a GL or something. Might put up a new wanted to buy thread or something. Mk1s are hard to find especially in Tassie so hopefully I'll get lucky.

Anyway, great to be part of the forum and look forward to learning much more!

    Cheers, Hendrik.

                Hi Hennie and welcome,

If you're interested I have a Mk1 4 door in need of work (in Glenorchy), bad points are it does have a little rust in places (in passenger and drivers foot wells) and at the base of the front windscreen (this is why the foot wells are in need of attention).
The bonus is it has a MK2 1800 motor with a 2 barrel DGV Weber carburettor.

I was going to use it as a parts car for my Mk1 but now have a Mk3 2L motor and 5spd so don't need this car, send me a message if you want to look at it.

                Chris
