  • Top 'o the morning to ye!

    Hey all,

Just moved to Melbourne from sunny Dublin and I'm looking to hook up with the scene here. I'm in the process of getting sponsored so will be here for the long term.

Formerly a Skoda VRS owner, now looking for a vintage dub. Any advice with that would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Darragh

(Oh, and here are a few pics of the old girl. I miss her.)

Sunny Dublin, I am not having that!

My cousin lives there and I have been myself and it rained lots!

Welcome to the forum though and good luck finding an old dub.

Thank for the quick replies lads.

@schoona - Darragh is pronounced Dara, but all I've been getting since I've been here is Darren or Daryl, so whatever works.

@Mrk_Mickey - I was very tempted to import the old Fabia, but it was more sensible to let her go. That was the Northern Irish reg, before I had it registered in the Republic. Ours are a bit more cluttered than your actually.

@h100vw - Sunny Dublin? Well, ok, I lied. It's a rainy booze hole, but it's home.

Yeah, I'm looking for either an early Squareback or Mk1 GTI. A Razoredge would be nice too, but a little rare.

@WABIT - Yeah, I heard it can get a little toasty down here. Still, freezing my t*ts off at the moment. I just took a look at the Classifieds... that Golf of yours... ... is it still on the market?!

@ Jmac - A Mk II Escort? Now theres something you don't see anymore. My uncle used to read notes on the Rally of Ireland in one of those way back! Ireland can be a great little country for road trips, nothing like the epic stretches of road out here though. Thanks for the welcome.

@ WABIT - Right, well, I'll PM you then. It's a seriously beautiful motor.

Darragh, that's a really nice looking Skoda. Is that based on the Golf MkIV?

You should fit in very nicely in Melbourne, I don't think anyone over here dislikes the Irish. Well, I hope not, I'm married to a colleen from Scotch Corner, Co Monaghan. Last November, my brother-in-law paid us a visit and gave us a plaque with Failte embossed into it. We hung it up outside our front door, now we refer to our house as Failte Towers.
