Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi All

I'm a new user and a female and I love my Golf!!!

I have a 2007 Golf 2.0 TDI manual (24,000kms) and have started having some problems and wondering if anyone has had similar problems and knows what it might be. BTW I''m taking it to the service centre on Monday however after hours of speculating with mechanics and friends I thought I'd try here as Monday is too far away

Recently it started to lose power and has flat spots in acceleration and it doesn't seem go over 3000 revs in the higher gears. It sometimes stalls when I depress the clutch after a drive under acceleration (i.e. not stop/start driving) and also seems to shake a bit when idling. One other thing it seems to do is not want to start when its warm, sometimes takes a few goes!

These problems *may* have started after I filled up last week at a Speedway service station - usually I stick to Caltex or BP however this was the only one around at the time. I have heard that diesel engines are a little more sensitive to dodgy fuel so thought this might be it but I can't certainly say that this is when it started - I've also tried adding more diesel to try and dilute the tank if this is a cause but could only top up about 15 litres...

Does anyone have any ideas what this might be?

        Welcome to the forum!

I think VW in general dont like dodgy fuel, diesel or not.

Does the car show any indicator lights on the dash?

You could always ask someone if they have a vag-com. Which a computer scanning device that scans the electronics of the car and reports any faults. Its the same sort of thing that the mechanics at the dealership use as a diagnostic tool to find any faults. It only takes a few minutes to setup and scan the car.

There are a few people on here that have one or you can go to a VW specialist and kindly ask them to have a quick look at the car and if they can run vag-com on your car.

For your interest this is what a full version of vag-com is likehttp://www.ross-tech.com/

          thanks for your comments guys.

a friend of mine has one of those test things however he's on the other side of sydney which doesn't help and there are no warning indicators at all either so i've got no idea.

i'll find out whats wrong with it tomorrow I guess..!
