Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • In the market for EOS

    Hi guys.
Am moving from a E46 M3 to a VW EOS.
M3 has been sold and am looking forward to some top down driving in sunny queensland.
Planning to buy the petrol version and hoping someone will give me a guide to some drive away prices and deals etc.

    Current price:
    EOS+met paint+leather + Prof Bluetooth+ gear paddles + Sat nav = 61747

    Few qs:

Is this a good deal or can i get better via brokers?

The gear shift paddles: are they configured as in an AUdi ie up gear on one side and down gear from the other or like in BMW ie pull to move up gear and push to go down?

How is the orig sat nav? or is there a better aftermarket option? There are a few threads on this which I will look up. Just though I would put it down here.

    Cheers

Flappy paddles on the Passat are down on the left and up on the right. The sat nav is brilliant, and integrates well with the car. Buy it. Be aware that the Bluetooth that you buy from the dealer is not worth it. See my post on Bluetooth options in the car audio section.

Welcome by the way - Eos is a nice ride, want to get my wife one one day!

Sounds like a downgrade to me Why not get into another M3... But a drop top?

But in all seriousness, the Eos is a great looking car and I'm sure you'll love it.

Sounds too much to me, is this a stock vehicle or a factory order? VW are having a free onroads promotion for cars delivered before end of October and it seems there are savings to be made. Not certain on the cost of the paddles and satnav but below is the deal I signed up for on Saturday.

Eos TSI, metallic paint, leather, electric seats (list price $1,500), bluetooth, windbreak & luggage pack (list price $977), boot liner (list price $190), front & rear mudflaps (list price $420) and window tint (list price $495) for under $56,500.

NB, this car is technically a demonstator (85 KM on the clock) but never registered and had only been at the dealers premises for 3 days so in my eyes, it is a new car.

            Hope that helps.

            Cheers

            George

If it's never been registered then it's not a demonstrator. 85 km is normal mileage for a new vehicle. A demonstrator is a vehicle that has been registered by the dealer, warranty has started, and when they sell it the dealer gets a subsidy from the manufacturer to cover them having to sell it cheaper.

True, warranty had started three days previously, car had been notified to VWA as demonstrator and is noted on the sale invoice as being a demonstrator. I'm sure the dealer will get some sort of subsidy, but for me I think it is a good deal!

                Cheers

Sounds like you did OK then! Typically I thought they have to register them to be able to use it as a demonstrator, but from the sounds of it they maybe didn't have time before you bought it. If you got a good discount as a demonstrator and have only lost 3 days of warranty then I think it's win-win all round!

It is a bit of a downgrade but with good reason......good times to invest and reduce debts. Moreover I got a good price on the M3 which was out of warranty etc etc.

have had the TFSI engine in an A4 before the M3 so know what it can do....esp after an APR upgrade!!!! Will miss rear drive of M3 as wel as its LSD but.....looking forward to topdown driving!!!!!

That sounds like a great deal George!!!!
the vehicle I was quoted was a stock vehicle with the corporate plus discount.
Have read elswhere that that is usually the best deal around....obviously not!!!
                      Hmmm better shop around.

                      Thanks George.

Could be that the corporate discount is not the best deal at the moment, VWA have the spring sale going at the moment, free rego, free dealer delivery, free CTP, free stamp duty, on Eos, Passat and Jetta. This deal does not apply to corporate buyers, perhaps this discount outweighs the corporate discount. Either way, I think your dealer has quite a bit up his sleeve. Be upfront, tell the dealer you are aware of better offers and tell him you are prepared to walk away to find a better deal.

                        Cheers
