  • ACT aspiring GTI owner

Hi all, this is a great forum, I've learnt a lot from it already. I'm looking to convert from an XR6 turbo to something a little easier to fit in tight places and lighter on fuel. I've liked the GTI since the MkV was released and with the release of the MkVI GTI coming I think it's time for a change (if the minister for war and finance agrees!) I actually looked at buying a MkV when they were released but the salesman was Australias biggest tosser so I walked down the road to Ford, his loss........ To punish them I think I'll buy in Sydney rather than here in Canberra.

I'm thinking a 3 door with leather seats and some other bits and pieces. The leather appeals because I think it's heated and let me tell you as I get older Canberra winters don't get any warmer. Anyway, does anyone know are the leather seats heated on a 3 door? I have read the 3 door does not have electric adjustment funcationality and am worried now they may not be heated either, which is disappointing if that is the case.

    Thanks.

Welcome mate. The guys at Lennock are not too bad, but you do have to catch them at the right time and massage their egos a bit (worth doing for developing a longer term relationship). I bought my old Mk4 GTI from Sydney for similar reasons to you, but when buying the Mk5 here they were really good.

Don't forget Gerald Slaven in Belconnen also sells VW now.

I actually spotted a red Mk6 GTI in Canberra today. Was a bit of a surprise! I reckon the Mk6 GTI looks fantastic, I dare say you'll be pretty chuffed.

    Cheers
    Liam

Good point about Belconnen, it's worth investigating.

It's really annoying, because I could drive a golf ball through Lennocks front door from my place but I have this pride thing about being treated poorly.

It's also quite possible that particular salesman no longer works at Lennocks. There seems to be a bit of staff turnover in the car sales business. Just when I get a salesperson (or service manger) reasonably trained they seem to go elsewhere.

Also when the MkV GTI first came out demand greatly exceeded supply, and the sales people knew that, so they didn't feel the need to try too hard. Maybe with the Mk 6 things will be different ?
