  • New from WA, just got a euro.

    Hi guys.

Just sold my WRX and have now purchased a 1998 VW Golf, 1.8 CL.
White in colour, stock as a rock.

I am very happy with it. It has only done 110K and is manual and in extremely good nick with full service history. It was quite a find and while it may look a little .. white I could not pass up the mechanical qualities of it. Ideally I would have liked a VR6 or a 2.0L but this was so perfect mechanically I just had to buy it there and then.

So I hope to learn, and perhaps figure out how I am going to make this vw golf look good!. I am really not a fan of the Star type rims that come with it. I will post some pics when I pick it up on monday .

Perhaps you can all reccomend some modifications to do to improve the looks. It is quite hard to find other white golfs on google images, though there is a few on here that look great.

Welcome to the forum. There are so many Subaru drivers converting to VW's lately, it's awesome! You'll find the Mk3's are as solid as a rock and the build quality is unparalleled (perhaps only by the Mk4's).

switched from Subaru because it was a heap of ****.

maybe not all Subaru's but mine was. Too much can go wrong on a turbo car. They are also very hard to work on because there is no room in engine bay due to the horizontal engine. I wanted something cheaper, and I love Euro's especially vw.

          Huzzah, another wa member!

It is fairly easy to convert a CL to a VR6 (if your game). In terms of looks, you might want to have a gander at The official mkIII appreciation thread.

          Hope to see you round
