Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hello from US

    Name is Dave
Was directed here by hits on my web site. I manufacture VW ball joint extenders and bump steer kits, and like to keep up on what folks are saying about them. Going through the forums is the main way I get feed back from people who have purchased them and those who are thinking about it. Plus it is interesting to see how the forums vary from country to country.

    Good to be here.

Welcome aboard, your products have indeed created a lot of interest here.

Might have to buy some myself one of these days.

Would love to see a MK1 camber plate in your product line up.

      Welcome Dave.

I have a feeling since the recent influx of super dooper low coilovers have hit our shores and lowered many of our cars, alot of us have become very interested in your products!

We may even have to arrange a group buy, for those genuinely interested parties.

Welcome Dave. Have heard great things about your products, though I also hear about complaints that there isn't anything for the A3 chassis VR6! I wonder if there's any chance of developing products for it?

Im with Ray on this one. Would be great to see something made up or adapted to fit the MK3 chassis, something I would be keen on to get the car setup better

I have a design for the VR6, but the tapered ball joint pin adds quite a bit of complexity to the extender, and have not figured out how to make them at a reasonable cost.

I am out of stock on the extenders 17MM and 19MM, but am making a production run which with heat treat and finishing is out about 4 weeks.

Hi Dave, good to see a manufacturer here,

Can you please specify if your products are designed for road going use, As i would think the majority of extender kits sold here will end up on street cars.

I did notice the disclaimer at the bottom of your web page, but i think it needs to be bought to the attention of potential purchasers for everyones safety.

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

                    Cheers,

                        Road or track

The parts that I manufacture are primarily for track use. From the very first I know there are many of the extenders that are used on the street. What I tell people is that, the parts have not been given a 100,000 mile life test on the street, I have not tried driving one through a 6 inch deep pot hole in the street.

I do have parts that have been running in road race environments for up to 10 years with zero failures.

My main concerns about these parts being used on the street is: Parts on street cars tend not to be checked very often, torque on bolts/nuts should be checked periodically, and the radius between the pin and the body of the extender is the most highly stressed area. It should be protected from damage and rust.

Even though I have been manufacturing and selling these parts for more than 10 years, with zero failures, I still have a concern about liability issues.

Anyone can read the specks on the extenders, by going to the catalog section of the web site. www.pmwltd.com

If there are any questions or concerns about any of the products feel free to ask.

I do make Caster/Camber assemblies that will fit on the rabbit tower, but have sold out stock and will not make any until I am done with the extender run.

                        Dave

What type of design are the camber plates Dave?

                          Cheers

There are a number of pictures of the caster/camber assemblies that I make, on the website. On the photo page there is a picture of an RX-7 installation, the Rabbit would be the same layout. When you loosen the 6 bolts on the top clamping ring, that allows the slotted plate to rotate 360 degrees, to set any combination of caster or camber. Then loosening the bolts that hold the bearing for the strut rod, you can move the bearing in the slots to set the amount of caster, camber or both.

Would it be OK for a street car?
