Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW New to the area but 10years of VW later......

    Hello all..
Name is David, I have been working on VW for coming on 10 years now. 8 years in the states and 2 years on and off here in Australia. I am now the Service manager for the new Volkswagen Dealer in Thornliegh (North Sydney). Most people that know me often say if you cut my arm I would bleed Volkswagan.
I am hoping to give some of you out there in the VW watercooled network a helping hand on the upkeep of your cars. In doing so I hope to bring a little relief to your wallets.

Anyway I hope to talk to you all soon
    David

    Welcome David,

It will be good to get some input from the dealer side of the game - might add some balance (and real information) to some of the discussions we have here.

If you find some people are getting a bit too "keyboard warrior" at times, just take deep breath and ignore them

Are McCarrolls going to have some competition now (they're a good dealership in my experience, but competition is always good!)?

        And that'd be "Volkswagen", right?

        Welcome aboard, regardless!

          Yes we are now Volkswagen

Competition with McCarrolls yes and no.....

          They are 100% passenger dealer.
          We are 100% commercial dealer.

Now that is only on the new car/van sales side of things.

We can work on and service ANYTHING. We are a much smaller company meaning we have significantly less overhead. We have about 10-20% lower labour rate and on some parts up to 30% cheaper prices.

We now have the VW badge over our door but we are 100% European at heart. Cars Autohaus was opened over 25 years ago and working on all European cars since the doors first opened. For a few years we were a Suzuki dealer as well. Between my self and the 4 Tech's I have here we have over 60yrs experience under the hoods of cars. My parts manager Terry has been in parts for over 30years and can find any one just about anything. To add to all that we are the ONLY factory backed SEAT parts dealer left in Australia.

We would be one of the only VW dealerships you will come across that will work on ANYTHING that goes on the road. We will not turn back any make or model. As long as it fits in our work shop and we have the tools to work on it then bring it in. We are not afraid of modified cars or doing the modifications. The only thing that limits us is if we are able to get the correct parts. 2 of my guys started working on air-cooled VW and just last week we did a brake job and service on a ex bush fire truck. As I said if it fits in here and we have the tools then bring it on in.

I am currently working on a deal with the owner to give the members of this club a further discount. I should have something in writing in the next few days. I plan on coming to the next club meeting to offer it up to you the members.

Between now and that time, if anyone from this club comes in for any kind of work ask for me (The service manager David) and I will be sure to make it cheaper.

If you are 100% happy with where you are already servicing your vehicle right now then stick with what you know. If you want a cheaper, different, easier and more personal then let us take care of you.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Welcome aboard. Always good to have options available to us.

We have an informal catchup every month on a Tuesday evening down in Parramatta, might see you there!
