QLD Help - RS4 Replica Issues

This is my first thread and I have to fess up so go easy on me.

After reading various threads and really liking the RS4 replicas from Velocity I got 18 X 8.5s (45 offset) (gun metal) for my Mk V GTI (MY07).

Trouble is I took them down to get fitted today and I was told they were illegal as they stuck out beyond the arches (which they do).

Any suggestions regarding what I should do?

it only sounds like you got the right offset

now there are two more steps after Poke which are Stretch & dump
follow that and you will be dubbin

Rolling the guards wont do anything for ya-unless you where trying to get extra low- I think he meant to say pull the gaurds just a small bit, but anyways I would fit them anyways I think you will be ok as long as they are not poking out like 15-20mm. How far are they poking out?

Welcome! First up we need pics of this poke before you are allowed to post anymore

Just joking mate, hopefully you can get it all sorted quickly. I'm not much of a MkV expert but there were some GTIs that had this slight lip extension added to the arches at the back because the rear wheels poked out too much for road use. I think Satanstoenail's MkV has these(?). That might be something for you to look at.

I've got identical wheels (even the finish!) on my GT and I would say that they're flush rather than poking. Maybe they appear that way because the tyre has a little stretch? Either way, good choice and enjoy them!

(Fyi, they're illegal due to the width regardless - 8.5")

I'd say they were flush if the cop had just had some morning sex before he pulled you over, or they are poking, if he hadn't (been poking!)

Thanks for the feedback. I cant give you photos as they are not fitted. I will go and get a 2nd oppinoin at another tyre place...

Here's mine, same manufacturer, sizing and fitment to give you an idea of how they look, no issue with poke as far as I can see in relation to protruding past the guard and no rolling of guards required.

Looked into it further and my replicas are definitely illegal in Qld...traded them on some BBS CHs (8*18 with 50 ofs). Get them on tomorrow...cant wait!

Tomorrow is also a big day...getting APR Stage 1 and cat back exhaust. Did the free trial last week and was really impressed - GTI seemed smoother, was easy to drive when taking it easy and heaps of torque when having a go.

That will end the mods for a while

Thanks for the photos...the gun metal RS4 wheels look great. I did go to another place and had another look and thet definitely stuck out...maybe due to differences in the GT and GTI config as they seem to fit fine on yours??? I have bitten the bullet and traded them on some other wheels.

Red and silver. I picked the wheels after looking through 28 pages of this other forum site that shows just about every wheel imaginable! Of course the CHs were on page 1...could have saved some time!
