Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • hello another car lover

Hey there all im nik and am looking deeply into getting a new mk6 some time in the next 6 months and this is me starting my research 6 months early so i know what im up against.

ill give you my wish list:

white mk6 golf 118 tsi with sports pack and acc.

ive been driving a mazda bravo 4L and that thing was alot of fun, and had some seriouse poke, but i want a small zippy car that i can drive through the national park without feeling to scared that ill go off the edge.
and when i was looking i kept falling back to one car the golf, this little car has so much character and i feel the mark 6 is moving back to the early golfs with its simple lines and forms and stunning details.

anyways ill be lurking in the background nice to meet you all.

stretch the budget a bit further and get the new R20, the AWD will give you even more confidence

      I agree with Gareth.

Wait and get the R20 or go with the Mk6 GTI.

you will be pleased to know that the Golf MkV GTI has been tested round a racetrack quicker than the WRX (with AWD), so you can hope and assume the MkVI would be better again.

The R20 will be a GTI on steroids (and AWD)
