Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC VW owner again

    G'day,

My name's Dan, I've been on this forum for a while but driving a Commodore for the past 3 years hasn't given me much call to post.
Lease is up on the Commo, so I've bought myself a bit of an oddball project. 1996 Passat VR6, Manual, Dark Grey.
I used to have a '94 Golf VR6 (which was red, thus the RedVR6). I absolutely loved it, nice subtle Zender kit, 17s, Jamex susp, Remus, etc.
I had been looking for another Golf for a while, then stumbled on this manual Passat. Not the sportiest looking vehicle on the road, but some nice wheels etc will help with that.

On the way home from picking it up, the ABS light came on, and the Cruise Control is a little intermittent, but otherwise it's a very clean car. I love the VR6 engine. It feels strong despite the fact that there's bugger all torque under 3000 rpm. Get it up over 3k, and it's all smiles!

I've had it for 3 days now. Put a CD player in it yesterday, then some F#$%wit removed my badges for me last night. Not happy. I guess a proper de-badged grill will be in order now, and some touch up paint for the decklid.

For anyone that's interested, I'll post some pics when I get some decent wheels on it

    Cheers
