Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hi everyone, new VW Passat CC nearly...

Hi everyone, just a quick introduction. Looks like I have been smitten by the new Passat CC so decided to give these forums a whirl. Happy to see lots of happy V(W)egemites. Going thru the detail on a new Passat CC and am curious to hear from other new owners re must have options etc. Will probably ask a few questions over the next few days (weeks? years?). I will try to do a search of course first!
PS love the cool similes on this forum.

Make sure you do not get the bluetooth, paint protection, leather protection or tinting as they can all be sourced elsewhere for much less.

Other than that, i am not sure what Passat/CC specific mods you would be looking at and I don't have one so i cannot comment.

Hi thanks team V. You are officially my first reply!

I was looking at the panaramic roof (but it does not open!), adaptive cruise control (but apparently a little spooky), upgraded dynaudio (but standard audio sounds fantastic), sat nav (though I have a Tom Tom), park assist (though I can easily reverse park a car) and rear camera (though I suppose I can turn my head around).

So basically, its going to be the lot or none lol! What would you go for?

Personally i would go for none.

Park assist is cool but I can already park the car myself as you said so no real point for the extra money.
Panoramic roof is a waste for me, they also cost a fortune to fix if anything goes wrong with them.
Adaptive cruise control is pretty cool but you should be paying enough attention when driving anyway to not "need" it.
Original stero equipment should be more than enough unles you really want to have a surreal sound experience. There are also Dynaudio steros available on the net a lot cheaper.
Sat nav could be okay if you do alot of driving to places you don't know alot about, but if its just for usual driving, then it isn't really worth it, plus you already have a tomtom.

The rear camera is the only option in the lot that i would consider but as you said, you could just turn your head around.

Hi and welcome to the VW fold, Leagle! You're making quite an entrance with the CC!

As for options, I think if you're forking out the hard earned for such a car, at least a number of options are a must. Definitely consider the panoramic roof - I mean really, how many other cars do you have such a unique option? It'd be fantastic - especially on those warm starry nights. Dynaudio is up there with the best, and as an advid music lover I wouldn't hesitate to option it one bit unless you were considering adding even better speakers/amps/hardware afterwards. I think you'll find that once you have it and then sit in someone else's car after you'll fully appreciate it. The only options I wouldn't consider would be things like paint and leather protection which you could get done by a pro elsewhere.

Good luck on whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll love it either way.

Cheers dubbed. LOL, its all or nothing with those options it seems. I guess it falls down to personal preference. The panoramic view is definitely chic and attention grabbing just not sure how many noises it will introduce to the car. Worried about vandalism too (though I guess a hard roof can cop it too). Also still don't like fact it won't open. Assuming I bought a car without the roof, would you bother installing an aftermarket roof? (I can see another post coming on lol...)
