Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just joined, finding the forum a little weird. Googled something and try to load this link whilst logged in: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...d.php?p=348052

but get a warning saying I am not allowed to access that page.

Log out and load the same link and can view the thread fine.

Anyway... just bought a 2009 Skoda Octavia Wagon TDI auto and wanted to join the Skoda appreciation threads, but I guess I'll have to wait a while before I'm allowed to view or post there...

    Welcome to the forum.

I reckon there's a bit of a delay from signing up, to getting access. Done to reduce spam. You should have access now.

It's a bog standard one - not the RS version that everyone seems to own over in Skoda land

My last car was a Ford Fairmont ED, so this is quite a different car. Firmer rider, but I really like it. More bells and whistles than you can shake a hairy cat at.

The car itself is very cruisy in Drive, which is great for inner city driving where 40 is the limit everywhere and 50 outside that and 60 only 50% of the time. It just ticks along and is easy to drive at what can feel so slow.

Stuck it in sports mode the other day and it has plenty of acceleration - the push in the back is great.

I test drove an Audi A3 sportback in my search for a car and the finish in the Elegance is close enough to the A3 that I could easily mistake one for the other. There's clear similarities in the gear lever and the feel of the buttons in the steering wheel. Seats feel great to me, but I am wondering if Mum will like them when she sits in them later today heheheh she's a bit bigger than me! heheheh.

Only has ~300km on the clock so it will be some time before it's bedded in and really singing, but for the purposes I bought it, I think this car is a keeper.

First time I have read a manual that actually made sense (most of the time) and imparted useful information too - well worth the read.

Oh yeah, I LOVE the way it looks
