After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • VIC Golf R32 MkV servicing options and ECU CHIP?

    Hi All,

New to the forum after picking up my first VW in a gold R32 mk - loving it!

Does anyone have any suggestions for respected VW servicing in the Melbourne area (preferably inner east) that's cheaper than the dealerships?

Also wondering about the rough cost and value of getting an ECU chip...

    All feedback is appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Aaron

    Hi Aaron welcome aboard.

There are plenty of options in regards to servicing around melbourne

    Audvolks in clayton (Revo Dealer)
AUDI Spares in Oakleigh (GIAC Dealer)
    Volkspower in burwood (APR Dealer)
    Euroclass in richmond. (GIAC Dealer)

in regards to an ECU reflash the above businesses also offer this service as well. Options from the above businesses would be Revo, GIAC and APR.

At the minute GIAC is priced quite aggressively at $796. There are quite a few happy GIAC customers on these boards so hopefully they will chime in. If you need any further info just shoot me through an email to tim@dubaddiction.com.au

        Oops

        Hi Tim and Aristocrat,

Thanks for your speedy replies! Firstly, Aristocrat- My R32 is actually pearlscent blue sorry, the word gold was suposed to be golf.. 'd' too close to 'f' on keyboard.

It does look pretty sweet though. Im sure you've seen a blue on before - though I'll get around to posting some photos soon.

        Tim,

Thanks for the handy info - I work in Hawthon so it'd be either Volkspower or Eurioclass that I'll visit. Excuse my ignorance, but what's the diff between APR and GIAC? And further - how much of a difference will each make to outputs?

        Thanks,

        Aaron

haha APR vs GIAC is a debate I wont get into as it will turn into a Ford vs Holden type argument. Gains from either tune are subtle but good. The real benefit is in extra mid range torque and better throttle response. At the minute none of the major players can beat GIACs price which is awesome for a premium brand.

Heres a thread from Bazzle that shows his R32 on the Dyno
