Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC my first mk1 golf project

Just bought my first mk1 golf today, pretty good buy $1500 RWC and REG.... Stoked! Bought it off a 60 something old dude, always garaged, never done over 75 kph for the last 15 years, immaculate inside and out.

Now what to do with it???????????
wanna buy some new rims and lower next week.... any ideas?????
want to get the GTI grill for it but not sure where to source it from yet???

how do i attach pics to these threads to show it off???

u can have a look at it here through the ebay link, let me know your thoughts.

    hey mate and welcome

first off, 15's would be the biggest (decent) size you'd like to go, look for offsets of ET25 or higher

as for the gti 4 lamp grill, post up a wanted thread in the classifieds section or contact "golf loon" as he runs a vw wrecking yard and parts emporium!!

other things is do is leave it how it is with wheels and a slam! that's it! but that's just me! also please keep those bumpers as they are the extremely rare Grey with chrome plastic ones apart from that, id go either GTI duckbill spoiler or GLS spoiler for the front after that youll be dancing bannana's!
edit: kust like to add a pic search on the trend people have with green mk1's

    cheers

Very clean looking Golf there - good score. Reminds me of a golf I saw that made me think a MK1 would be my next car.

you need to upload the pictures to photobucket or any other website that hosts pictures.

then when uploaded, copy and paste the IMG code.

you should open a new thread in the mk1 section.

              cheers

wow, that looks to be in great nick! congrats on the purchase!

edit: those wheels look to be corrado steelies, 15". nice wheel, very clean looking. hard to find in oz, better chance importing them from OS, as they never came on any cars here
