Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • TAS Hellooooooooooo

I'm not yet in possession of a VW but have a new beetle on order. Hope it gets here soon!!

I don't even own a car right now, and am driving a borrowed car after my not so old commodore died and went to car heaven.

Big change in the amount of stuff I'll be able to cart around (am renovating a house and the dealership are quite shocked that I plan on fitting roof racks to the beetle!!! Tee hee - love to stir the pot a little).

I did, for a very short time some years ago own an old Superbug, but it needed a lot of work done to it and now my father has it (along with his Kombi) and has fixed it up (somewhat - still has a way to go).

Haven't joined a forum before and well, I'm just rambling. Looking forward to getting back into a zippy little car. The fondest memories I have of any car I have ever owned have been a 1962 Triumph Herald. Loved that car, it had such character and it made me smile. I'm hoping that my new beetle will have just as much character and give me much fonder memories.

    See ya's

      Triumph Herald

Haha, I still have nightmares about them - a friend of mine from Hillwood had one, there must have been two sold in Tassie.....

"Character" - hmm, don't know that I'd describe that car that way

I somehow don't think you'll get the same type of "character" from a new Beetle, the experience might be entirely different. There'll be no wondering if you are going to make it home, or break down in traffic ( well, there's no traffic in Launnie (or Tassie, for that matter), but you know what I mean ) or if it will fall apart again as you go over a spoon drain.....

      But Welcome to the Forum.

Hi and welcome to the forum jeniems. Hope your Beetle will serve you well and that you get much joy from driving it around - don't know about roof racks, with a couple of 4 by 2's on it though
