Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My new MK1 Golf GLS

    Hi all,

I’ve just bought my first car; a beautiful blue 77 mk1 Golf GLS. Woohoo!

Many thanks to hiho for driving me to Horsham so that we could return to Melbourne in a triumphant Golf convoy.

Can anyone help me to find a set of front discs for this car? Mine have worn too thin for a RWC.

(maybe I should stick this post in the MK1 section?)

    Cheers

Ah, the blue golf from Horsham. Good to see someone scooped it. Welcome and post some pics!

Yeah it was a bit of a mission. But it ran great and the CV joints seemed a bit of a non-issue, so $650 later I was the proud owner.

Needs a little work for a RWC – tie-rods, new rear struts, front tyres, front discs plus some small stuff. We’ve got most of it covered expect the discs.

Can’t wait do be legally on the road, it’s completely awesome!

I looked into buying that very seriously a while ago, at least I think it's the same one.
What'd you pick it up for?
