some advice?

been looking at a couple of mk3 (i think..) golfs. and was wondering if you could give me some advice on how something like this would go -

My uncle had one of these bro. He bought it with over 150000k's though and had a whole heap of shti go wrong with it, wheel bearings, gearbox and the rest. But buy any car which has a few km's and was not looked after and this is always the case.
They have 85kw and go quiete zippy, sorry bro but that is all i know
