I am new to this forum having only signed up 2 months ago.
I have a Seat leon 1.9 TDI SE PD130 (77kw) which wasn't sold in Australia. The car is bases around the chassis of the mkiv golf.
The car has several modifications:
The small side mounted intercooler has been replaced with a Bespoke Front Mounted Intercooler.
The turbo's compressor wheel has been upgraded from 49 to 52 mm this enables it to boost up to 3 bar absolute (2 bars + atmposheric air pressure) reliably.
The car has an egr delete fitted and the benefits combine to give improvements in overall fuel consumption and performance with a reduction in exhaust smoke. Also, it lengthens the life of the turbo.
Lastly, the cars exhaust has been de-catted to improve flow.
The car now produces 215 bhp (160kw) and 320 lb ft (434nm) torque. You might think this is a lot but these engines have been tuned up to 260 bhp (194kw) and almost 400 lb ft (540nm) and raced in the vw racing cup.
I have been offshore for just over a year and have been working for a 'tuning company'.
I am particularly interested in the remapping of ECU's, also known as reflashing. An old school term is chipping.
I will return in October and will be based in Moonee Ponds/ Windy Hill area.
I am desperately missing the footie and for my sins barrack for the Tigers but enjoy going to most competitive matches.
Best wishes
John
