Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Stopped Lurking

    Hi all,

Decided to stop lurking and to contribute.

Have previously been a member of forums - XR8 pursuit ute and a clubman7 replica (lotus 7 - FAST go cart for the road!).

I have also owned a private import Audi S2 Coupe quattro - nice but expensive to maintain!

I drive a MkVI TSI118 DSG for work, and a silver 06 GTI manual MkV as a personal ride (missus drives it to work every day).

Considering a flash in a few months, but only for mild performance upgrade - more about torque than power.

See you all on the forums

    Mr CH

      Thanks,

I will look for pics - dont think I have any of the quattro coupe. I sold it cos it was a nightmare to keep going - the 20V was getting tired. It stripped the plastic(!) gears in the dizzie shaft and I was quoted $1200 to $1500 to get a new set imported. I was on hols in Adelaide, so I got a set custom made in brass (i think) - $800. Beautiful car though - a nice GT and very confidence inspiring in the wet.

Here is a list of current and past cars that I can recall:

      Current:
MkV 2006 GTI silver 5 dr manual sunroof - 34K from dealer with only 7000k on the clock (3 yrs old!).
MkIV 2009 TSI118 DSG (work car - gets thrashed!)
      Suzuki GSR600 motorbike

      Previous:
2001 AUII Ford XR8 Pursuit Ute LPG and Petrol
Homebuilt Lotus Seven Clubman Replica (16V 118kw 4AGE Toyota engine, 600Kg total!)
      Nissan SSS Bluebird
Audi quattro Coupe 20V private import
      Mazda MX5 1990
Holden VR 5.0 Utility manual chipped etc
      Suburu Liberty sedan AWD
      Toyota Corolla 16V hatch - 1986
      Honda Accord hatch - old!
Triumph Herald convertable - project car
Datsun 1600 sedan - my first car - rally prepped, roll cage, dog cut gear box, ported and cammed
Fiat 124 Sport 1600 twin cam
      Toyota Celica twin cam hatch
