Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hi all, New here! Mk1 77 GLS with a Mk2 1.8 8v engine

Hey everyone, name's Daniel and ive just recently purchased a mk1 golf a a project car! Its in great shape for its age, and has no rust amazingly(only minor surface rust)... the engine runs almost perfect (much better than my daily Saab 9000)... and i was very surprised with its power! Needless to say i love it already!

When i bought it, it was just incredibly dirty, good thing im in the Detailing business! I also would like to say that the interior is a nightmare, the previous owner tryed to fix the dash with 'something' (many thanks to Costa for supplying me with the dash mat!!)...and is missing majority of interior parts... Heres some before and afters since i detailed it!

Much, much more work to be done!
    Cheers!

    Before..

    After ..

Welcome Dan, I can see why you need a new front bumper You need to do 5 speed conversion as well. Love to see another Mk1 in Sydney.
