Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thank you again for the warm welcome guys.

Loving the forum, I spent 3 hours using the search option the other night.

Hey Stotto, saw your car and thought I was seeing double there for a minute... my long lost twin?

      Hi Ben

Check out all the forums and then decide. What is right for one, may not suit another. Some people swear by lowered springs and others say coils are the only way to go. Factor in expense and ultimate reason (looks, handling, race etc.) for suspension upgrades and that might help you decide. And remember... we drive on roads that are less than perfect. I am very happy with the coils I put in, but now drive down the road more carefully...

      Cheers

Found it in a car yard up hear in Newcastle (where I live), took it for a test drive and fell in love. It’s only done 141.000 and as far as I know pretty much bog stock. At the moment I have not got any major plans for it (just the sound system) and maybe a new set of wheels. Being a "p" plater my insurance does not like many modifications so im pretty limited.
Hi Ben, nice VR6! Happy to see another happy VW'er..

            I reckon long lost triplets..

why are there so many maroon vrs around? I have never seen many alternative colours available.

If you wanna lower your dub i recommend coilovers, even though more expensive they give you adjustability in both height and dampening force. Overall I reckon they give you better suspension handling than just lowered springs. From memory my SPAX coilovers come with 24 adjustable level dampening force.

Anyway nice ride Ben, i'm always up for a cruise up the coast in my vr if you ever keen for a met up someday. Nigel.

Dam... I really need to get mine lowered (yours looks wicked). Yes im more leaning towards coilovers as well, I like the idea of having it adjustable.

Should of spent Mr. K Rudd's money on coilovers not my stereo . Although tax time is only around the corner
